Á la suite des débats suscités par le pamphlet de Bernard Coard (1971) et les rapports Rampton (1981) et Swann (1985), la Grande-Bretagne a connu une véritable floraison de Black supplementary schools. Marginalisées et mal connues, ces 'écoles' sont des espaces éducatifs créés et gérés par les communautés afro-caribéennes vivant en Grande-Bretagne. Cette contribution, qui s’inscrit dans le cadre d’une recherche consistant à étudier les initiatives panafricaines dans les diasporas noires aux États-Unis, en Grande-Bretagne et au Canada, vise à explorer à lumière d’une approche à la fois historique et sociologique les Black supplementary schools qui, de nos jours, témoignent d’un véritable ‘communautarisme scolaire’.
