Abstract
L'oeuvre romanesque de Daniel Poliquin est fondée sur une interrogation de l'identité et de la mémoire. Le passé des personnages n'y est qu'une suite d'accommodements et de désertions par rapport à une origine dont l'authenticité et la pertinence sont mises en cause. Cette référence à un passé fait de ruptures et de mutations n'entraîne pas une banalisation de la mémoire. Au contraire, le récit creuse sans répit l'antériorité des personnages. Cette fonction testimoniale est incarnée par divers personnages périphériques, dont l'importante figure récurrente du Professeur Pigeon, sans qui les tensions identitaires et le rappel des ruptures fondatrices de la mémoire ne pourraient se faire.
