In this paper, a new coordinate frame is defined, and the mathematical model of the coning motion of wrap-around-fin projectiles is set up. The dynamic stability of the coning motion is investigated by means of Lyapunov First Theory and the centre manifold theory. The influences of roll angular velocity and the free-stream Mach number of the projectile on the coning motion are analyzed theoretically and numerically. The results indicate the existence of coning motion and stability bifurcation at a critical roll angular velocity.
