Abstract
Lors de la sortie du film Nick's Movie (Lightning Over Water), réalisé par Wim Wenders et Nicholas Ray, la critique journalistique a vainement tenté de cerner le statut du film : s’agissait-il d’un documentaire ou d’une fiction? Partant du discours de cette critique, le texte qui suit analyse les paramètres sur lesquels se fonde son argumentation et cherche à déterminer, principalement à l’aide de la sémiopragmatique de Roger Odin et de la pragmatique historique du film de Jürgen E. Müller, ce qui peut amener le spectateur à croire qu’il a affaire à un documentaire ou à une fiction. Il s’agit, ici, de voir ce qui, pour le spectateur, trace la frontière toujours mouvante et perméable entre le documentaire et la fiction.
