Abstract
L'année 1945 est particulièrement riche en titres romanesques intéressants, signés par Pierre Baillargeon, Real Benoît, Berthelot Brunet, Robert Charbonneau, Alain Grandbois et d'autres. La plupart de ces ouvrages sont, à l'évidence, littérairement marqués. Il n'en va pas de même cependant pour les deux romans de l'année qui auront le succès le plus grand et le plus durable : Le Survenant de Germaine Guèvremont et Bonheur d'occasion de Gabrielle Roy, qui visent — chacun à sa façon, qui est fort différente de l'autre — à la transparence exigée par le réalisme. L'auteur s'interroge sur la signification de cette visée dans le monde québécois de l'immédiat après-guerre.
