Abstract
Avec l’accélération de la mondialisation des économies, les nations semblent de plus en plus impotentes. À l'exception des plus grandes, elles n'auraient plus de réelles marges de manoeuvre, notamment dans leurs politiques économiques. Ce constat doit pourtant être plus que nuancé car la mondialisation ne signifie pas le crépuscule des nations. Mais pour relever le défi de la mondialisation, elles doivent aujourd'hui redéfinir les mécanismes de solidarité qui les caractérise. En effet, face à la dynamique des inégalités que développent les marchés, quel principe d'équité retenir? En se concentrant sur le cas français, cet article montre que c'est en rendant plus explicite le modèle de solidarité choisi, en limitant explicitement les avarices micro-économiques que la nation peut défendre à la fois sa cohésion interne et sa position externe.
