L’agriculture dans les espaces périurbains a une place paradoxale : elle est mise en difficulté par le processus d’urbanisation tout en étant garante des aménités qui suscitent l’attrait pour de nouveaux habitants pour les espaces en périphérie des villes. Au travers d’une étude de cas exploratoire, nous avons cherché à comprendre quel rôle joue le territoire dans le processus d’émergence des AMAP dans ces situations périurbaines et comment il s’en trouve transformé dans son organisation spatiale et sociale. L’étude du cas de l’AMAP des Cheires (Auvergne, France) montre que la reconnaissance du capital naturel comme ressource du territoire est un levier de l’action collective menée en vue de sa préservation. Le territoire local est d’abord l’objet des mécanismes de coordination entre les acteurs. Cependant, au fil du temps, les mobilisations collectives se pensent à une échelle plus globale. Les logiques d’action collective relèvent du “ militantisme pragmatique ” dans le sens où ces associations se font reconnaître en tant qu’acteur de l’agriculture au travers des actions concrètes qu’elles mettent en place.
