Abstract
Consistent with the pressing social issues of the time, the inaugural editorial focused on the health-related challenges of unemployment and the need for and potential of occupational therapy to ...remedy human dissatisfaction and mental unrest by providing daily tasks so that minds may be occupied, bodies may be healthy, and the means of sustenance may be found (Howland, 1933, p.4). According to its website, Physiotherapy Canada started publishing in 1923, so it is unclear whether the economic climate of the 1930s led to a short-term merging of efforts or if other social and professional issues were also at play. Over the next several months, this rich history will be uploaded onto the CJOT pages of the CAOT website and made available to the membership. Because OCR was used in the scanning process, the volumes will be searchable as well as accessible to individuals who use screen readers to access electronic content.
