Abstract
Si le poids des syndicats constitue une variable contextuelle importante en matière de management de la diversité, l’incidence de l’appartenance syndicale en elle-même est moins connue. S’appuyant sur l’enquête ESS 2008-2009 sollicitée par la Commission Européenne et menée auprès de 48 141 individus répartis dans 25 pays européens, cette étude vise à apprécier l’impact négatif de l’appartenance syndicale sur l’âgisme envers les personnes âgées. Bien que l’appartenance syndicale dans les pays d’Europe du Nord est souvent expliquée par les avantages matériels auxquels elle ouvre droit, elle réduit davantage l’âgisme dans ces pays que dans les autres pays d’Europe.
