Abstract
Dans le présent article, nous proposons de réfléchir à la question : « Les jeunes de la rue sont-ils militants ? » C’est un exercice compliqué. C’est d’abord un phénomène qui paraît improbable : le militantisme des jeunes de la rue est un thème qui, dans chacun de ses termes, semble aussi original et complexe que paradoxal et controversé. Cette réflexion est l’occasion de montrer que la rue n’est pas un espace de « désengagement social », mais un espace ayant une véritable « fonction créatrice » à l’origine de la possibilité d’un militantisme. Nous formulons ainsi des hypothèses quant aux contextes d’engagement. Enfin, nous esquissons l’ébauche d’une approche théorique en termes de « carrières », à partir des complexités du choix individuel d’engagement des jeunes de la rue.
