Abstract
Cet article s’interroge sur la place tenue par le terme « corps » dans le discours sociologique et, simultanément, sur les raisons de la difficile émergence d’une sociologie du corps. Il pense mettre en évidence celles-ci en révélant le régime discursif spécifique au sein duquel est inséré le terme « corps ». Désignant non pas d’abord un objet de connaissance, celui-ci y apparaît comme l’instrument d’une véritable « mise en corps » du je définissant et autorisant un véritable espace de crédibilité pour les théories concernées. Les exemples tirés de l’œuvre de Goffman et de Pierre Bourdieu semblent étayer cette thèse.
