Ce travail étudie la dynamique d’une végétation ligneuse dans les parcours communautaires de Kaffrine depuis la période des grandes sécheresses sahéliennes à l’actuelle (1973-2012). La méthodologie utilise des questionnaires appliqués aux résidents et aux transhumants des villages retenus. Leur contenu a abordé des aspects liés à l’état du peuplement ligneux. Les résultats indiquent une dégradation progressive du milieu avec une perte importante de biodiversité, marquée par une disparition de certaines familles et une baisse du nombre de genres et d’espèces. C’est la famille des Combretaceae qui se maintient le mieux avec une très bonne régénération malgré les nombreuses contraintes. Vue les fonctions multiples qu’assure l’arbre dans ces parcours, il est important de repenser des moyens de gestion durable avec les populations locales afin de réhabiliter et préserver ces écosystèmes.
