Este texto es un homenaje a José María Arguedas formulado por Jesús Morales Bermúdez, otro novelista y antropólogo, en el que se subrayan las similitudes entre los universos sociales, emotivos y novelísticos de ambos autores. La comparación con la obra del japonés Jasunari Kawabata señala, más allá de la realidad americana, la dimensión universal de sus obras. En estos tres autores, el acto de la escribir está asociado a la memoria. Es la memoria tanto el motor como el hilo que recorre la escritura de los tres narradores.
