En France, le canyoning est une composante de l’offre touristique des territoires de montagne. En utilisant les concepts développés par Friedberg (1993) pour l’analyse de l’action organisée, il s’agit de comprendre comment est structurée l’offre commerciale de canyoning sur le territoire du Parc naturel régional du massif des Bauges ; et de mener une étude comparative avec celui du Vercors. Cette comparaison a permis de montrer en quoi la structuration de l’offre était spécifique dans chaque espace géographique, mais aussi de mettre en évidence les points communs existants. Ainsi, dans les deux Parcs, la majorité des professionnels se contentent de cueillir la clientèle déjà sur place et éprouvent de la difficulté à tenir compte des réalités de la mise en marché d’une activité sportive devenue une composante de l’offre touristique. Ces résultats font ressortir la difficile insertion de l’offre d’une activité sportive de nature dans l’industrie touristique.
