Abstract
Mites of the family Cheyletidae have been reported in the house dust, associatedto animal and human disease, but little valued in the etiology of human diseases.The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of mites of the familyCheyletidae in house dust. Studies developed in the domiciliary ecosystem of 160homes of the district of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, evidenced that 13(0.85 %) of the mites found were of the family Cheyletidae, with 6.9 % of positivedomiciles. Cheyletus malaccensis, Ker bakeri, Cheyletus fortis, Cheletonellavespertillionis and Cheletonella caucasica were the found species. The mite’sspecies diversity found and its presence in close human contact, along with reportedrelated dermatitis to them deserves further studies on this topic.
