Abstract
Au cours des trois dernières décennies, le législateur québécois a procédé à certaines réformes qui ont profondément modifié l'encadrement juridique des rapports pécuniaires entre époux. Le 1er juillet 1970, il instituait le régime matrimonial légal de la société d'acquêts. Le 2 avril 1981, il imposait à tous les époux une contribution proportionnelle aux charges du mariage. Le 1er juillet 1989, il assujettissait l'ensemble des couples au patrimoine familial. Dans une perspective sociojuridique, l'auteur tente de dégager les fondements à la base de ces réformes pour ensuite s'interroger sur leur pertinence et leur actualité eu égard aux profonds changements dont le mariage et les valeurs conjugales ont été l'objet. Son analyse l'amène à conclure qu'un réaménagement du cadre législatif est non seulement souhaitable, mais s'impose plus que jamais.
