Abstract

Photoemission cross section data have been measured for the dissociative excitation of S2, S8 and CS2 by electrons in the impact energy range from threshold to 360 eV. Emissions in the vacuum ultraviolet spectral region (115-170 nm) have been observed and quantified, where possible, using emissions from H2 as a secondary standard. Numerous dissociation pathways have been identified. These data are important in a wide range of situations such as plasma physics and planetary atmospheres.
