Abstract
La pratique du conte telle qu’elle se fait dans les familles contemporaines au Québec détient toutes les caractéristiques d’un rituel familial où se met en scène la relation affective qui unit les parents à leurs enfants. Plus qu’une simple activité du quotidien, le moment de raconter une histoire à l’enfant détient un pouvoir inouï dans le développement d’un mode d’être ensemble que les parents utilisent pour tisser du lien et permettre à l’enfant d’acquérir la confiance. La ritualisation qu’en font les parents, usant du conte comme rite d’endormissement et de séparation et recourant au livre pour enfants comme objet rituel de la pratique, crée un moment où convergent les affects dans un scénario rodé permettant à la famille de « prendre le temps ».
