Résumé La reconnaissance au travail fait l’objet de nombreux écrits en gestion. Si elle est reconnue universellement comme un levier de bien-être et de performance, peut-on voir des différences quant au « décodeur » que les gestionnaires utilisent à cet égard selon l’endroit où ils travaillent ? Au-delà de la culture du pays, la culture organisationnelle influe-t-elle, elle aussi, sur la gestion de la reconnaissance au quotidien ? Cet article synthétise les résultats d’une enquête sur la reconnaissance au travail qui a été menée auprès de gestionnaires travaillant dans des organisations situées en France, aux États-Unis, au Canada anglais et au Québec. Nous examinons comment les perceptions des gestionnaires participants à l’endroit de divers aspects de la gestion de la reconnaissance (les types de reconnaissance, les pratiques de reconnaissance, les obstacles à celle-ci) varient selon la localisation et la culture de leur employeur. L’article se termine par des recommandations clés que les dirigeants et les gestionnaires gagneraient à suivre pour améliorer l’efficacité de la gestion de la reconnaissance au sein de leur organisation.
