Abstract
Les sites rupestres, témoignages parmi les plus poignants de la communication visuelle pendant la période paléohistorique autochtone en Amérique du Nord, offrent aujourd’hui pour les collectivités amérindiennes ou inuites un potentiel élevé d’exploitation à des fins touristiques. Or, une fois résolus les problèmes de conservation, la question demeure vive quant à leur mise en valeur. En prenant comme exemple l’étude d’un site à pétroglyphes exceptionnel de l’Arctique canadien, celui de Qajartalik, le présent texte propose une réflexion sur les tenants et aboutissants d’ouvrir un tel site au public, que ce soit dans son contexte originel ou en milieu muséal.
