Poster — Wed Eve—10: An X‐Ray Attenuation Approach to Breast Density for Full Field Digital Mammography
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Mammography, in principal, is x‐ray imaging with high resolution and contrast and based on the fact that the intensity of the x‐ray radiation reduced different amount as it traverses different matter. Starting from this basic definition we have explored the possibility of using x‐ray attenuation for quantitative determination of the density of the sample along the path of the x‐ray beam, which in our case corresponds to the product of the breast thickness and actual density of the breast. We have observed that x‐ray attenuation is strongly correlated with the percent breast density and developed a simple method based on this simple physical principle in order to estimate the percent breast density from digital mammography images. Comparison of the results with the radiologist evaluation for breast density demonstrates the applicability of the x‐ray attenuation measurements to determine breast density using a physical model without any assumptions.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
