Abstract
Cet article présente les composantes du programme correctionnel Parcours et la façon dont elles ont été implantées dans les prisons provinciales. On a confié au premier auteur le mandat d’élaborer un programme correctionnel de courte durée, encourageant les contrevenants à prendre conscience des conséquences de leur comportement et à amorcer un cheminement personnel axé sur le sens des responsabilités. Parcours repose sur trois modules prévoyant chacun huit heures d’intervention. Le premier vise la conscientisation et la responsabilisation des personnes incarcérées par l’entremise de certaines applications de l’approche motivationnelle. Le deuxième vise à amener les participants à prendre conscience des raisonnements moraux et des autojustifications qui viennent banaliser leurs comportements criminels. Quant au dernier, il vise à mieux comprendre le processus de passage à l’acte et à élaborer un plan de prévention de la récidive. Un premier bilan de l’implantation montre que le programme Parcours est introduit à des degrés variables dans 95 % des établissements de détention du Québec. Néanmoins, la plupart des participants n’ont bénéficié que de deux des trois modules prévus. Une conclusion s’impose : dans un avenir rapproché, il faudra uniformiser l’implantation du programme et évaluer ses effets.
