Abstract In this paper the challenges and solutions relevant to the management of technology in contemporary global companies are explored. The impact of technological change on the classical organizational paradigms of functional areas in operations is discussed. Successful corporate responses to environment change are also presented. Recommended solutions to constraints described herein are presented in the form of Best Management Practices. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hum Factors Man 15: 83–92, 2005.
