Abstract
Les lois africaines se sont fortement libéralisées depuis les années 1990, se dépouillant des aspects les plus discriminatoires ou les plus répressifs, que ce soit en ce qui concerne la libéralisation de la contraception ou l'exigence d'autorisation du conjoint. Les lois sur l'avortement le permettent généralement pour sauver la vie de la femme et souvent pour des motifs de santé. Les protocoles des institutions de santé ou les experts admettent plus de motifs pour accéder à l'avortement mais introduisent l'autorisation du conjoint. Quant aux pratiques des prestataires de services, elles sont peu favorables à l'accès à la contraception et exigent deux fois plus souvent des autorisations du mari que les protocoles des instituts de santé. En 1992, les trois quart des pays demanderaient ainsi l'accord du conjoint pour pratiquer une stérilisation ou un avortement.
