Abstract
Au regard du malaise démocratique qui gangrène les sociétés contemporaines, les réformes institutionnelles visant à accroître la participation populaire peuvent incarner des transformations politiques profondes : vote obligatoire, « journée de la délibération », démocratie directe et participative, rotation des charges politiques, etc. Une multiplicité d’innovations démocratiques sont ici passées en revue, et on interroge ce faisant les notions mêmes de représentation et de professionnalisation politiques. L’article conclut en évoquant les conditions sociales et politiques de telles réformes démocratiques, qui passent à la fois par un travail de repolitisation des classes populaires et une mobilisation collective en faveur d’un approfondissement démocratique.
