Abstract
Cette contribution fait l’état des recherches menées en sciences humaines et sociales en s’appuyant sur les thèses soutenues en France depuis 1972 et les programmes de recherche sur les fleuves, estuaires et cours d’eau. L’article essaye de comprendre la mise en interdisciplinarité des sciences humaines et sociales en analysant leur généalogie et leur intérêt porté aux objets aquatiques. Les pistes de collaboration qu’offrent le symbolisme, la morphologie sociale, les lieux de mémoires, ou l’exploration-école restent encore trop absentes des programmes de recherche pluridisciplinaires
