Abstract
Inexistante ou inintéressante aux yeux de la majorité des chercheurs, la sociabilité mondaine a pourtant marqué les milieux montréalais aisés du début du vingtième siècle, avec d’importantes conséquences sur le plan culturel. Cet article tente de montrer la nécessité d’une relecture de ce phénomène, en prenant comme exemple la polémique entre exotiques et régionalistes qui a caractérisé le milieu littéraire des années 1910 et 1920. L’exemple de la réception du Nigog montre le rôle joué par la mondanité dans la vie littéraire de l’époque.
