Abstract
La Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine conserve un grand nombre d’archives et de collections traitant de la villégiature. Cet article présente l’histoire de ces collections ainsi que leurs lacunes et leurs points forts. Dès sa création, l’Institut français d’architecture contribue à la valorisation du patrimoine balnéaire et thermal grâce à de multiples expositions et publications et à la collecte d’archives d’architecture. Les premières collections sont consacrées à l’architecture de la Belle Époque et de l’entre-deux-guerres, puis arrivent les grands fonds d’archives des agences de l’après-guerre. Les nouvelles stations balnéaires et de ski correspondent alors au développement du tourisme de masse. Elles ont été retenues pour leur exemplarité dans le parcours permanent du musée des Monuments français.
