Abstract
Au-delà des listes de noms et d’œuvres, sur quoi repose un mouvement littéraire solidaire et agissant ? Pour répondre à cette question, l’article s’interroge sur la notion d’identité collective et sur sa possible application au romantisme de 1830. Il fait apparaître qu’à la notion de génération, auquel on s’est souvent fié, il faut ajouter d’autres opérateurs : des caractéristiques sociales partagées, l’adoption de lieux de sociabilité fédérateurs, en l’occurrence de cénacles, et enfin la construction de discours collectifs, tout particulièrement dans les revues et les journaux, grâce auxquels est transmise une image unitaire du groupe.
