Abstract
Au Québec, l’expression « développement local » (DL) a remplacé l’expression « développement économique communautaire » qui durant les années 70 se rapportait à des initiatives à la fois dotées d’une finalité sociale et économique, mises de l’avant par des acteurs victimes de la conjoncture économique et désireuses d’assumer une plus grande responsabilité de leur avenir immédiat. Nous visons ici à montrer, à travers trois décennies de contributions, qu’activistes et universitaires québécois, tout en ayant des affinités et des objectifs rapprochés, se partagent en deux catégories : ceux que l’on pourrait désigner comme étant adeptes du DL communautaire dit de type « progressif » avec les secteurs coopératif et associatif comme pierre d’assise, et ceux qui misent sur l’entrepreneuriat local de type privé associé à un DL dit de type « libéral ». Ceci, en s’interrogeant où en est-on au plan des efforts de théorisation ou de modélisation ?
