Abstract
Canada’s health ministry and the country’s largest manufacturer of generic drugs, Apotex, long accused of an overly cosy relationship, are locked in a bitter legal battle after the Canadian health minister, Rona Ambrose, banned the import of all drugs and ingredients made in two Apotex plants in Bangalore, India. Health Canada twice asked Apotex to halt imports from one plant over quality concerns, but the company refused.
