Abstract
La recherche sur le rôle des agents immobiliers dans la ségrégation résidentielle a révélé certains aspects de la discrimination basée sur l'appartenance ethnique. Un des mécanismes qui la produit s'inscrit dans un moment particulier de la relation sociale agent-client. L'ethnicité de l'agent immobilier, qu'il appartienne à un groupe dit majoritaire ou minoritaire, aurait un impact sur l'accès à la transaction immobilière. Les différences d'accès au service et à la propriété visée par le client sont introduites par l'agent dispensateur du service immobilier pour diverses raisons que nous explorons ici. Les différences dans le traitement de certaines clientèles ethniques sont ainsi étudiées de façon quantitative, puis qualitativement à partir de quelques entrevues en profondeur, ce qui permet de mieux comprendre le processus de différenciation-discrimination.
