Les études sur la morphosyntaxe des variétés de français parlées à l'ouest de l'Ontario ne sont pas légion. De plus, l'hétérogénéité des méthodes de cueillette et d'analyse des données linguistiques ne facilite pas la tâche de celui ou celle qui veut proposer une synthèse valide sur ce point. À la lumière des travaux qui sont à ce jour disponibles, nous tenterons toutefois d'exposer les aspects morphosyntaxiques les plus saillants de trois français de l'Ouest canadien : le franco-manitobain, le français mitchif et le franco-albertain. Il sera alors possible d'apporter des éléments de réponses aux questions suivantes : les français de l'Ouest présentent-ils des traits linguistiques originaux qui les caractérisent et les isolent de leur plus proche voisin de l'Est, le franco-ontarien ? Peut-on mettre à jour des similarités morphosyntaxiques entre ces français qui permettent de les assimiler à une seule et même variété ? En définitive, nous poursuivrons la piste de recherche ouverte par Robert Papen lors duSymposium sur les parlers français de l'Ouesttenu en mai 2004 à Saint-Boniface (Manitoba).
