Abstract
Résumé Connus sous le nom de « mineurs étrangers isolés », 6 000 à 8 000 jeunes immigrés de moins de 18 ans vivent en France, sans parents ni responsables légaux, accueillis par les services sociaux. Le présent article explore le ressenti, les attentes et obstacles qui accompagnent l’apprentissage du français et la scolarisation de trente-trois jeunes, âgés de 15 à 17 ans, scolarisés dans deux structures d’accueil. La méthodologie retenue est celle du dessin réflexif. Les données recueillies indiquent que la motivation de ces jeunes envers l’apprentissage n’est pas seulement instrumentale et liée à l’obtention d’un titre de séjour. En dépit de leur situation de précarité sociale et de vulnérabilité psychologique, ils envisagent l’apprentissage comme un processus de formation et d’intégration dans lequel ils veulent se projeter.
