Abstract
Dans ce texte, l’auteur tente de comprendre les représentations négatives de la vieillesse qui gouvernent l’appréciation par les personnes âgées de leur condition. Ces représentations liées à des stéréotypes véhiculés par une société valorisant l’autonomie et la performance les empêchent de bien vieillir et constituent un obstacle à leur accompagnement. Un travail philosophique de déconstruction de l’éthique de l’autonomie précède l’élaboration d’une éthique de la vulnérabilité qui s’appuie sur ce que le grand âge peut nous apprendre.
