Abstract
Des chercheurs du Département de démographie de l’Université de Montréal, en collaboration avec le ministère des Affaires Sociales du Québec, ont constitué, depuis 10 ans un registre des actes d’état civil (naissances, mariages, décès) concernant les Inuit du Nouveau-Québec. Ce registre doit permettre l’étude du comportement démographique de la population couverte. A ce registre on a intégré les informations tirées de la liste des bénéficiaires établie au premier juillet 1977 en vue de l’application de la Convention de la Baie James et du Nord québécois. Cet article décrit les étapes suivies dans l’élaboration du registre, sa structure et son utilisation actuelle, ainsi que son exploitation future une fois terminée l’informatisation des données.
