Est-il possible que l’action pédagogique soit à la fois différenciée et égalitaire; qu’elle s’adapte à la réalité de chaque enfant, à ses intérêts, ses motivations, ses acquis antérieurs et à son héritage culturel et qu’elle conduise néanmoins tous les enfants à maîtriser, dans une certaine limite de temps, les instruments de pensée et de communication, les savoirs et les savoir-faire correspondant aux objectifs éducatifs fondamentaux? Cet essai tente de fournir des éléments de réponse à cette question :
