Abstract
In 1974, writing about the question of identity, Marcel Rioux stated that: L'americanite is not the influence that the Quebecois have been subjected to by the mass circulation of U.S. cultural products; this process is called Americanization. Americanite, on the contrary, is a trait that the Quebecois share with the other inhabitants of North America, the people of the United States and the Canadians; it is a trait that is acquired by the transplantation into new living conditions, in contact with another nature and by the frequentations with other peoples.
