Internal Consultancy and the Public Conversations Project: A Dialogic Consultation

Abstract
The ideas and practices of the Public Conversations Project (PCP) and other post-modern writers and clinicians were utilized in the facilitation of a dialogic consultation. The PCP takes ideas and skills from the world of therapy, develops them and places them into the public arena. In this paper we describe taking them somewhere new: into the sphere of internal consultancy. We describe a consultation inspired by the ideas of the PCP and suggest that a space was created where a conversation less like debate and more like dialogue could occur. We contend that this form of conversation may provide a useful augmentation to organizational resources and internal consultants.
