Abstract
O presente estudo objetivou compreender aspectos da motivação de pessoas amputadas. Participaram quatro pessoas amputadas, sendo duas praticantes de atividades físicas e duas não praticantes. Os resultados mostraram que estes apresentaram motivação elevada para a prática de atividades físicas, porém, comportamentos diferenciados. Com auxilio da Teoria da Autodeterminação, compreendeu-se a importância da satisfação das necessidades psicológicas básicas para o desenvolvimento da motivação autodeterminada, essencial para estas pessoas superarem as possíveis barreiras atitudinais e se inserirem e manterem na prática de atividades físicas.
