L’industrie minière mexicaine, vieille de plusieurs siècles, vit ces dernières décennies de changements significatifs institutionnellement et légalement ainsi que dans sa structure de propriété et dans les modalités de mobilisations et de réponses sociales qu’elle a suscitées. Dans cet essai deux processus sont abordés. D’une part, celui de la conformation d’un secteur monopolistique puissant du patronat mexicain dans la branche minière et son intervention active, non exempte de conflits, dans la crise du système corporatif dans lequel on a maintenu pendant des décennies le syndicalisme minier. D’autre part nous nous sommes arrêté sur la naissance récente d’un nouveau segment patronal minier intégré par un nombre significatif de compagnies moyennes canadiennes, promotrices de l’expansion de ce que nous appelons « la troisième frontière » de l’industrie minière mexicaine, processus qui, dans ses racines et dans ses formes de contestation et de rejet social, assume des modalités et des expressions en même temps globalisées et situées.
