Abstract
L’efficacité énergétique dans le secteur résidentiel joue un rôle important dans la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre. Dans cette étude, nous voulons (i) analyser les dépenses en rénovation énergétique en tenant compte de la profitabilité de l’investissement et (ii) déterminer le profil des ménages qui n’investissent pas même quand la rénovation en efficacité énergétique s’avère rentable (i.e. si les bénéfices du projet excèdent les coûts). La probabilité que les ménages ne rénovent pas, même si l’investissement est rentable, est expliquée en partie par le statut d’occupation et le revenu. Nous obtenons aussi que la profitabilité de l’investissement n’est pas une variable déterminante. Les ménages n’appliquent pas le critère de la valeur actualisée comme le suggère la littérature théorique sur le sujet, ce qui justifie l’existence de barrières de marché. Il est donc nécessaire d’encourager l’investissement avec des politiques publiques.
