Abstract
Abstract Deriving inspiration from the Jörg Niewöhner and Thomas Scheffer collection on dilemmas of ethnographic comparison, this paper addresses some of the processes and problematics of ethnographic comparative analysis. In contrast to the broader, methodologically inclusive and conceptually more diffuse approach in the collection, I present a more focused theoretical, methodological, and conceptual approach. Locating ethnographic comparative analysis within the quest for conceptuality and authenticity across the human sciences, this paper introduces a set of trans-situational concepts or generic social processes which focuses comparisons on activity (and interchange).
