« Revaloriser l’élite politique », c’est revaloriser la représentation

Abstract
À l’encontre d’une certaine mouvance populiste pour qui le renouveau de la démocratie passerait par le renforcement du pouvoir citoyen, Mathieu Santos-Bouffard propose au contraire de revaloriser l’élite politique. Je suggère d’inscrire cette proposition dans une autre plus large, soit celle de la revalorisation de la représentation. Dès lors, vouloir revaloriser l’élite politique, c’est vouloir revaloriser la représentation politique. Le présent texte montre l’importance de la représentation et sa fragilité dans les démocraties modernes, puis analyse les propositions de renouvellement proposées par Santos-Bouffard à la lumière de leurs effets sur la représentation.
