Abstract
La fonction esthétique de la maison longue minangkabau Les rapports femmes-hommes s'expriment chez les Minangkabau à travers plusieurs codes dont les messages ne sont pas identiques. La femme se présente, par exemple, comme nettement inférieure dans le code politique, mais comme nettement supérieure dans le code économique. Notre intervention se limite au contexte de la maison longue (rumah gadang), dont nous analysons les aspects proprement architecturaux ainsi que les aspects fonctionnels, c'est-à-dire la maison comme lieu des rites masculins'(politiques) et féminins (sociaux). Nous y trouverons la clef des motivations profondes des rapports femmes-hommes chez les Minangkabau, et de la dialectique entre l'objet esthétique et le processus de sa production dans la vie cérémonielle.
