Abstract
Plusieurs études menées auprès de jeunes Québécois vivant toujours dans leur localité d’origine ont montré que la faiblesse du sentiment d’appartenance était l’un des principaux facteurs susceptibles de provoquer leur exode. À partir d’entretiens semi-dirigés tirés de l’étude qualitative du Groupe de recherche sur les migrations des jeunes (GRMJ), l’auteure a tenté de voir, dans un contexte où le développement des moyens de transport et de communication et l’interconnexion grandissante entre le local et le global interrogent le sens du territoire comme lieu d’appartenance identitaire, si les jeunes migrants éprouvent un sentiment d’appartenance envers leurs lieux d’origine et d’accueil et quel effet l’expérience de la mobilité peut avoir sur leur rapport à l’espace. La recherche montre que les jeunes étudiés accordent une importance significative aux différents lieux vécus qui s’exprime soit par un sentiment d’appartenance territoriale, soit par ce que l’auteure appelle un attachement à la « symbolique du terroir ».
