Abstract
In this article, I will present a brief theoretical overview of Critical Family Therapy centered on the psychotherapeutic perspective, through employing critical narrative as a psychotherapeutic resource. Six foundations are proposed to support the critical position, laying a basis for the therapeutic effect and reconstructing the immediate social well-being of people in terms of epistemological, emotional, cultural, historical, political, and ethical aspects. To structure my psychotherapeutic perspective, I will introduce four clinical methods: (1) therapeutic remembering and forgetting, (2) use of vernacular metaphors for externalizing problems, (3) active resistance as a therapeutic resource for adolescents, and (4) therapeutic dialogue based on “stupid questions.” I will explore this final method by presenting a clinical case to demonstrate the practical application of Critical Family Therapy.
