Abstract
Like many of their patients, physicians struggle to cope with chronic illness. While they have issues in common with other chronic disease patients, regardless of profession, physicians who are ill face an additional set of challenges. In this article, we address the following questions: How common is chronic illness among physicians? What are the additional challenges that physicians face in coping with chronic illnesses? How can physicians cope better with chronic disease?
