Abstract
Le régime d’immersion en français (RIF) de l’université d’Ottawa au Canada offre une expérience unique de socialisation linguistique à de jeunes francophiles désirant poursuivre leurs études universitaires en langue seconde. Cet article retrace brièvement les origines de ce programme créé en 2008, ainsi que les défis associés au positionnement des apprenants anglophones au sein de la classe d’immersion universitaire. Une analyse de l’expérience vécue par ces étudiants lors de leurs trajectoires universitaires souligne les tensions et le questionnement pour les établissements, les instructeurs et les étudiants que sous-tend la mise en œuvre d’une approche par immersion en milieu universitaire canadien.
