Abstract
L'article présente sous forme de récit anecdotique les résultats d'une recherche portant sur la présence de titres littéraires légitimes sur la liste des best-sellers de la Presse depuis 1970. À partir d'un échantillon qui retient les ouvrages ayant connu les plus nombreuses présences sur les listes et dont les auteurs figurent en bonne place dans des dictionnaires de littérature québécois et français, l'analyse établit les caractéristiques principales de l'ensemble :origine nationale des ouvrages, genre dominant, évolution des rapports entre oeuvres littéraires et non littéraires. En conclusion, se dégage une observation sur la part décroissante de la littérature dans les listes de best-sellers.
